Review | Ask Italian Edinburgh

I sometimes meet my auntie on my day off and she loves trying new places, although we usually end up at Wetherspoons because I'm fussy. I've seen Ask Italian  popping up on my news feed as an advert on Facebook lately. I'd never heard of Ask Italian before, but the pictures on Facebook everything looked new and welcoming. I'm not in town a lot, but it said it was on Shandwick Place. If you don't know where Shandwick Place is, it's just on the corner before Princess Street. It's opened where the old LRT bus shop was, for those people who remember where places was before.

I went along for dinner with my auntie yesterday. It looks small when you first walk in, but there's a few steps and there's more tables round the corner.

We were given the menu and it's one of those places the words are all too posh for me haha. I thought I'd stick with pasta and went for spaghetti al pomodoro, which has santos tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil in a rich tomato sauce, topped with buffalo mozzarella and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

It was so funny when the waiter came I just heard - Al pomodoro, but it said it so fast  I didn't know what he said. He then goes spaghetti. I goes oh that's me.

My auntie had the Sea bass Al forno, which has Sea bass fillet basked in a white wine sauce with new potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach. not something I'd go for, as I don't like fish.

The spaghetti al pomodoro was nice although the cheese is a lot stronger than other mozzarella cheeses I've tried before. It's worth trying, if you've never been to an Ask Itaian. The Ask Italian website had a third of the food bill, so it's worth checking if there's any offers before you go. If there's any offers you can just show your phone with the code you got sent for the discount.
